Rarely, the skin cancer can invade into the dermis and then it is called an invasive squamous cell carcinoma. WebBowen’s disease is a type of superficial skin cancer that affects the upper layer of skin (sometimes even referred to as squamous cell carcinoma in situ, and intraepidermal carcinoma (IEC)). Most often, this skin condition causes red (sometimes brown), scaly patches on the skin and usually develops on legs, head, neck, palms or soles.
